Do List After Moving Into Your New Home
Do List After Moving Into Your New Home
When you move into your new house, you will want to make sure that you have a To Do List on hand. Having a list will make it easier to stay on track with what you need to do before you move in. A To Do List will also let you know how many things you still have to do when you are inside the home. This will help you know what to buy and arrange for moving day.
List of tasks
First
thing that you need to do is to write down all of the major and minor tasks
that you must do. Start by listing all of the appliances and furnishings that
you currently have inside your home. If you haven't purchased anything yet,
start listing all of the items that you want to purchase before you leave for
your move. This way, when you get to your new home, you can already list all of
the items on your list.
Once
you have listed all of the items on your list, you can now create a sub-list
for the major tasks that you must accomplish. These should be completed the day
before you move in. Be sure to include tasks that you must do around the house,
such as cleaning the house. You can even organize these tasks in the order of
their importance.
categorize
The
day before you move in, it is highly recommended that you categorize these
tasks. Put each category into a paper and label it as such. Put reminders or
sticky notes on them so that you can refer to them while you are doing other
things. For instance, if there is a certain task that you have to finish before
you can take your shower, write it on the list so that you won't forget it
while you are bathing.
On
the morning of the day that you are going to move into your home, sit down and
write out your list. Be sure that you include the items that you absolutely
must have. Add extra ones if necessary. For instance, if you have several boxes
to organize, write them down on your list before you open them.
cleanout
One
of the most important things to do list after moving into your new home is to
clean out all drawers, cabinets, and pantries. This is one room that is often
overlooked by homeowners, but is actually one of the most abused areas of the
home. If you don't clean this area out every so often, it will only get
cluttered and dirty over time. Another good idea is to install a new washer and
dryer, so that you won't have to use your old ones for laundry anymore. You may
also want to hang up pictures of family and loved ones in this room so that you
won't accidentally step on them when walking from one room to another.
organize
The
next thing on your list to do list after moving into your new home is to
organize your trash and recycling. Some people throw away their junk on a daily
basis, but it's important to do this activity every single day. It doesn't
matter how much you have to clean out each day if you don't sort it out. Get a
large garbage can and label it "trash", and hang all your
non-essentials in it. Leave some space between your trash cans and the walls so
that you'll be able to easily move all your garbage to this container.
organize your finances
Finally,
the last thing to do list after moving into your new house is to organize your
finances. To do this, you'll need to have a system. Create a file in which you
keep track of all your income and expenses, and make a separate one for your
debts. This way, you'll have an easy idea of where your money is going each
month. And when it comes time to pay your bills or to clear off your debts, you
won't have to go back and forth and organize them.
